Having watched the series first and becoming hooked on it the reading books second i was so disappointed by how different it was and i generaly think the series is so much better but maybe the producers should have kept the storyline in the books, it kind of undermines L J Smith's work on her books that producers would just alter it so easily. Yet i think the producers of the show have twisted the original story really cleverly and it works alot better because people can relate more to Elena in the series. L J Smith writes a typical portrayal of a popular girl which is stereotypical bitchy and blonde and people can't really relate to that whereas they can to Elena because shes a normal girl that happens to be involved with the abnormal. I love the way series 3 shows stefans true colours, he was always quite boring and damons dangerous and exciting and i just really want them to get together!!

the book and the TV series are so different though I personally prefer the books but than again the characters are a near perfect profile for what they are in he book and the cast they chose portray it really nicely

I do enjoy the books (though the 5th one gets a little ... crazy) but I really like the Tv show. At first, I thought it would be rubbish (I know! Shock, Horror!) but now that I'm watching it, I love it. I don't like the change between book Elena and Tv Elena but I thinbk they still made it work.
Team Damon (cuz he really is the coolest)

The tv show is amazing and i love all of the unexpected twists and turns. I have read the books and i thought that they were pretty good but i enjoy the tv show much more!!

The books are fine. I mean more detail but I personally hate the covers and I like the tv series better. I think the books were worth reading but the tv series is worth seeing soooooo much more!

Personally I think that the show is a better than the books. The book had some good suprises but still it was too predictable the show is extremely well done and is very different from the show with much better suprises and a better storyline!

i really want to read these books. but i dont know where to get them, im not comfortable buying them online..

You can get them at Barnes N Noble or probably any other book store. But Amazon is a really good website to order stuff off of. But the tv show is really different than the books. The books are awesome!
