CONCLUSIONS
Elena Gilbert she has blonde hair and blue eyes she has brown hair and brown eyes its just weird
Elena's sibling Margaret Jeremy it works okay
Bonnie white girl with red hair black girl with brown hair its okay, i kinda like the brown hair better.
Aunt Jenna has a boyfriend, Robert Alaric Saltzman i like Alaric better
Setting/Location Fell's Church, Virginia Mystic Falls, Virginia
Meridith She exists She does'nt exist I liked Meridith
Vicki Wasnt't very important and was not related to Matt Is related to Matt and becomes a vampire and then is killed by Stefan Its ok i guess
Time period Damon and Stefan were turned vampires 1500's 1800's they seemed more interesting from the 1500's
Plot

they dont match up at all
Elena Dies twice nothing too exciting i like the books better
Alaric Was a vampire hunter/specialist who dated Meredith Is just a teacher who has somewhat become a vampire hunter because of his former wife, Isobel. He is dating Jenna. I like the series better in that sense because Alaric and Jenna are better together than Meredith with Alaric. Meredith and Alaric together was just weird. I like Alaric better all together on the tv series.
Bonnie Is kind of naive, hates her witch powers. Is wiser and more cunning, uses her witch powers more freely and of own will. i like Bonnie in the books better, because she is just sweet and she would never do to Elena what she did in the series.
Vampires Can read minds, and Damon and Katherine at least can turn into animals at their choosing. I don't think they can read minds and at the beginning of the season they only HINTED about Damon being able to turn into a black crow. I like the books better. It is just more interesting.
Caroline Hates Elena and does everything in her power to sabatoge her relationship with Stefan. Gets pregnant by Tyler. Gets over Stefan choosing Elena over her, dates Matt. Is bff with Bonnie. I like the Television version much better. Caroline is nicer and much more likeable.
Tyler Is a werewolf. Is evil and kills Sue. Is a werewolf. Matt's best friend. A nice guy mainly. Definitely like tv Tyler better!!

Elena's reaction to discovering Stefan is a vampire
Is shocked at first then gives him a kiss and tells him it DOESN"T matter.

Freaks out and tells Stefan they can't be together
Like book much better!
Caroline's last name

Forbes

Truitt
Like Forbes better.

I honestly do not understand why the writers even bothered to say it was based on the books...guess it was to get viewers? Meredith is completely cut and in my opinion she was a very important character. Caroline is NOT their friend at all in the books and is actually making deals with demons! Bonnie is constantly described as pale with firery red hair - in the show she is a black african-american! Elena has blonde hair and blue eyes which again is mentioned all the time, there are even references to the colour of her eyes being the same as the gem stone used in the rings the vampires wear. Elena has a 5 year old sister not a 15 year old brother, they are not adopted in the book and in no way is Elena a direct descendant of Katherine! Seriously the only things they got right were the names of Elena, Bonnie, Stefan and Damon! If you are going to base a show on a book then at least stay true! The show is in no means bad but it's ahrd to watch when I have read the books, it's very disconcerting. They would have been better off to just call the tv show something else!
