Mini-synopsis: Stefan is floored in his home by another vampire, which turns out to his friend Lexi. She's in town for his birthday. Matt, Jeremy, Elena and Stefan are all called in to talk about Vicki with the sheriff. She seems to buy the story that Vicki left town. Outside Elena and Stefan talk and she says that they can't be together.

Lexi and Damon talk...she brushes off his advances (and also reveals to the audience that she is older than both Salvatores). Bonnie's grandmother tells her that the talisman found Bonnie so she should keep it and wear it. They talk about the fact that Bonnie's grandmother and her father do not get along. Elena and Aunt Jenna are shocked to find Jeremy doing homework. Could it be an effect of Damon's brainwashing last week? Aunt Jenna also refers to the fact that she got an e-mail from the reporter saying he left town.

Damon visits Sheriff Truitt to deliver the vervaine. She tells him that their leads are cold so they'll be considering anyone who is new to town since the attacks began - she surmises that vampires must have the ability to appear during the day. Bonnie visits Elena the next morning and apologizes for being MIA lately. Bonnie displays her powers for Elena - she makes feathers float through the air. Elena feels bad that she is keeping secrets from Bonnie.

Damon runs into Caroline and brainwashes her into being nice to him. He says that she's going to help him get rid of the vampire problem, and that she needs to get Bonnie's necklace back. Back at the Salvatore home, Lexi and Stefan talk. Damon shows up and invites them to a party at the grill, hosted by Caroline. Lexi and Stefan start to get ready and then Elena arrives - Lexi is shocked by her appearance since she's seen Katherine's picture. Lexi thinks he's crazy but Stefan explains how much he cares about her.

Lexi arrives at the party alone while Stefan checks in with Elena. Elena is at first mad until she learns that Lexi is just a friend. Elena is frustrated because she needs to talk to someone and she can't. Stefan tells her that he will always be there for her. Elena appreciates it but decides to stay home.

Caroline demands the crystal back from Bonnie, and when she tried to grab it it shocks her. Stefan arrives at the party and tries to talk to Matt. He apologizes and says he was just trying to help. Matt thanks him for trying and says it's not the first time Vickie has run off. Damon is mad that Caroline couldn't get the crystal back. Damon leaves the party and kills a couple outside.

Elena shows up and sees Lexi and Stefan together. Damon tries to taunt her and she asks what he did to her brother. She says he's acting different. Damon says he took away the suffering. Bonnie and Caroline talk again...Caroline is mad at her but is also upset Damon called her stupid and shallow.

The police find the bodies outside - the girl is still alive. Lexi orders shots and sees Elena. They start talking. She shares the the love of her life was human. She tells Elena that at the end of the day love really conquered all. Lexi tells Elena that she should go wit her heart. Outside, Sheriff Truitt asks the girl what she saw.

Elena goes to Stefan. Caroline is drunk and sits next to Matt. She complains about her night and asks if she's shallow. They seem to connect and he takes her home. Sheriff Truitt sees them and she tells Caroline they'll discuss it later. She tells her deputies not to let anyone leave.

Inside, Lexi wants to find out why Damon is really in town. The Sheriff brings the girl inside and she points out Lexi. The sheriff stabs Lexi in the arm with a vervaine shot and escorts her out. Stefan tries to follow. Outside Lexi tries to attack the Sheriff and she shoots at her, to no avail. Stefan and Elena have now gotten outside and see Damon step forward and stab Lexi in the heart. She asks why and he tells her it's part of the plan.

The sheriff and Damon talk about how the nightmare is over. She thanks him. Matt is seen taking Caroline home. She asks him to stay with her. Stefan and Elena are walking outside. He wants to kill Damon and she tries to stop him but he leaves upset. At the house, the brothers fight. Stefan stabs Damon in the stomach and then says that he's sparing him.

Bonnie is having a nightmare. She is being chased by something through the forest and ends up in the cemetery, near the mausoleum where those kids were killed by Damon. She sees a girl who tells her "It's coming" and she wakes up - she's actually in the cemetery!

Elena gets threatened & more in CW’s “Vampire Diaries” episode 8 of its premiere season. The episode is entitled, “162 Candles.” We’ve got some spoilers for the show, along with a special minute and a half web clip sneak preview.
This show is getting hotter and hotter. I was totally engrossed in last night’s episode. They totally blind-sided me when they killed off Vickie. What up with that? I thought she was a regular on the show. Oh,well.
In “162 Candles,” Stefan will get a surprise visit from one of his oldest female vampire friends named Lexi (guest star Arielle Kebble).Meanwhile Elena will still be upset by the events that occurred at the Halloween haunted house,and she will try and stay away from Stefan.
Elena will also tell Stefan that he needs to stay away from her when he tries to go talk to her. Lexi will end up introducing herself to Elena . She will also threaten Elena when she thinks she might ruin her time with him.
Elena and Jenna will be surprised by a dramatic change in Jeremy’s behavior. At Damon’s insistence, Caroline will try and get his medallion back from Bonnie. Damon will also offer to help Sheriff Forbes. However, that working relationship will end tragically.
